The Tikhvin Dormition Monastery is the chosen home of the great sacrament of the Orthodox world, the miracle-working icon of Theotokos Hodegetria of Tikhvin. After more than half a century of exile, the holy image came back home in 2004. Significant effort was made to prepare the cloister for the return of the sacrament. Still, a lot more needs to be done by the brotherhood, parishioners and benefactors because the monastery was nearly brought to a complete desolation in XX century. Like all the Holy Orthodox Church, the Tikhvin Monastery in its earthly mission depends on voluntary giving by those who apostle Peter called "the people of God" (1 Pet. 2:10). We are grateful to all who have helped with the rebuilding effort in the past and continue to do so at present. We believe every good deed for the benefit of the holy place is accepted in the sight of Lord.
